Our Mission

We are on a mission to increase the knowledge, skills and approach of Scotland’s employers to ensure recruitment processes are accessible and, when in the role, disabled employees are set up for success.

Our purpose is to work with employers across Scotland and help you to be better at recruiting and retaining disabled people and those with long-term health conditions – boosting confidence, innovation and economic inclusion.

We support the Scottish Government’s aim to halve the Disability Employment Gap (DEG) by 2038. When Apt began, only 45% of disabled people in Scotland are in employment. We made it our mission to change this. Latest figures show that 50% of disabled people in Scotland are now in employment. However there is still a gap to close…

81%of the working population is in employment

50%of disabled people in Scotland are in employment

This is the Disability Employment Gap, and the Scottish Government have committed to significantly improve this situation by 2038.

Our approach is inclusive, supportive and collaborative.

We work with you to ensure that your hiring process is inclusive and accessible for applicants and, when in the role, they are adequately supported so both you and your new employees are set up for success.
